RURAL INVESTMENT SUPPORT CENTRE
The Rural Investment Support Centre (RISC) is a Mongolian non-profit making and non-governmental organization (NGO). RISC was established in May 2005, as a network of experienced business consultants, researchers and lecturers.
RISC is registered at the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs which is operating in accordance with the Mongolian Law on Non-Government Organizations.
The supreme authority of the RISC is vested in its Governing Board. The administrative and financial performances of the NGO are monitored by the Internal Auditing Council.
To support sustainable rural development and livelihoods of the local population via promoting investments in food and agricultural sectors, agro processing industries and sustainable tourism.
The RISC promotes comparatively new development concepts such as Public-Private Partnerships, Market Value Chain, Business Clusters and Capacity Building (institutional, human and technical) among its target groups and clients.
Its operational principles adhere to law and legislation, non-profit making, understanding and respecting clients’ interests and needs. The RISC cooperates honourably with them on legal basis.
The RISC expertise relies on 5 full-time and 5 part-time consultants, including 4 doctors in agricultural economics and 2 doctors in veterinary sciences and 2 Masters in business administration.
With technical assistance of the “EU - TransMongolia Partnership for Sustainable Tourism and Related Business Development” project, RISC has established a Business Incubator and trained the project beneficiaries in the field of sustainable tourism, business development and ICT services for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The main goals of the business incubator are to promote entrepreneurial spirit among the local community and assist SMEs how to operate successfully. The success of SME’s is intended as their financial viability, the respect of the environment, and their social responsibility. The RISC/Business Incubator targets are small and medium businesses, herders’ groups and craft workers engaged in sustainable tourism and related businesses.
